The Olde Forester celebrated his 92nd birthday on February 17, 2006. The party was held at Chillicothe Country Club on February 19 with 24 family and friends gathering. Myrtle, his beloved bride of 65 years, was at his side. A highlight of the day was Emmett receiving the Life-Long Achievement Heritage Award from the Ohio's Hill Country Heritage Area organization. The best part for Emmett was that all the guests wore Michigan hats (Even the Ohio State alumni were willing to make this sacrifice for such a special man!) Emmett was heard repeating many times, "Everyone's a Wolverine today."
